Bait traps are used to capture Lepidoptera attracted to fermenting fruit, faeces, and rotting meat. Our traps are based on the tried and tested Van Someren-Rydon style and take into account scientific research on effective trap design. They are lightweight and pack down to a slim size, and have a number of features designed to improve performance and ease of use.
A 36cm (14") landing platform made of easy to clean semi-rigid pvc is used for our traps. The gap between the cylinder and platform can be easily adjusted from 2cm (3/4") to up to 13cm (5") using sliding cord-locks, so you don't have to struggle with knots.
Four hanging points provide secure positioning. The main netting cylinder is washable, with no internal projecting seams, and is fitted with a full length vertical entry double-slider side zip for easy access to the butterflies and for the removal of unwanted insects. A removable clear colourless PVC cover which protects the top section of the trap from rain is also available.
