About Our Cages
Insectopia traditional hanging flight cages are used for emerging, flying, demonstrating, pairing and insect egg-laying, especially with lepidoptera. Because they are lightweight and portable these cages are also useful for travel, offering temporary accommodation for a wide range of insects on cut plants placed inside the cage. When not in use, the cage stores flat and takes up very little space.
The non-fray nylon net is sewn with no internal projecting seams. The cylindrical shape with near vertical sides ensures there is no ruching at the top, which could entangle insects. Our hanging cages are fitted with a vertical entry single-slider side zip. The cage top and bottom rings are made of rust resistant metal for durability.
Optional support rods are also available for our cages, enabling them to be temporarily converted to a free-standing cage where hanging may be inconvenient, or for inspection. Where rods are used, cages may be be placed on the floor or a table - this allows plant pots, jars or artificial feeders to be placed in the cage.
